Supply Chain Manager (Operating on a Hybrid working model - 2 days in)

This Global manufacturer with a family feel is recognised as a respected innovator and manufacture within their industry. The development of a new and exciting division at their site located near Huddersfield, has created an opportunity for an experienced Supply Chain Manager.

The Supply Chain Manager will be responsible for developing, managing, and continuously improving the supply chain function to support business growth and operational excellence. This role requires someone who will challenge the status quo, drive supply chain improvement initiatives, and proactively identify opportunities to enhance efficiency, resilience, and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Develop, implement, and refine supply chain strategies aligned with business objectives. 
  • Challenge existing processes and practices, driving improvement rather than simply maintaining the status quo. 
  • Define and monitor key supply chain KPIs, including supplier OTIF performance (target >95%), inventory accuracy, and lead time reduction. 
  • Support the transition towards a Just-in-Time (JIT) supply model wherever possible to minimise inventory and working capital. 
  • Develop and maintain supply chain contingency plans to mitigate risk. 
  • Manage day-to-day material planning, scheduling, and supply chain operations using the ERP system. 
  • Collaborate with the Purchasing Manager to manage a portfolio of approximately 50 suppliers across the UK, Europe, Japan, and the Middle East. 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, improve performance, drive cost control and value through negotiation. 
Skills & Experience: 

Essential 
  • Strong background in supply chain management within a manufacturing environment with a varied and complex supply chain. 
  • Proven track record of implementing supply chain improvements rather than simply maintaining existing systems. 
  • Experience with ERP systems. 
  • Familiarity with JIT supply models. 
  • Knowledge of import/export procedures and compliance requirements. 
  • Evidence of successful delivery of cost reduction, supplier selection, inventory optimisation, and supply chain performance initiatives. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Willingness to travel nationally and internationally as required. 
Desirable 
  • Formal qualifications in Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related discipline (e.g. degree, CIPS, APICS). Equivalent experience will be considered in place of formal qualifications. 
  • Experience sourcing or managing capital items for facilities or machinery projects.
