Are you a dynamic and forward-thinking Engineering Manager with a strong background in maintenance and reliability? Do you thrive in a fast-paced, highly automated production environment where continuous improvement is at the heart of the operation?

We’re working with a large, well-established manufacturer in the Northampton area that is investing heavily in its engineering function. As Engineering Manager, you’ll play a key leadership role in ensuring plant reliability, safety, and performance, whilst driving innovation and leading a high-performing team.

 
The Engineering Managers Key Responsibilities:

·         Lead and develop a multi-skilled engineering team, ensuring safe and efficient operations across all plant assets.

·         Champion Health & Safety best practices, risk assessments, and contractor compliance in line with UK/EU legislation.

·         Implement preventative maintenance strategies that reduce downtime and increase overall equipment effectiveness.

·         Manage departmental budgets, resources, and service contracts to maximise operational efficiency.

·         Drive energy-saving initiatives and site-wide infrastructure improvements.
 
·         Act as the site’s technical authority on engineering matters – mentoring, coaching, and upskilling your team.

·         Collaborate with production leadership to ensure seamless alignment between engineering and manufacturing.

·         Deliver full lifecycle management of CAPEX and infrastructure projects, from scope and planning to execution and review.

·         Support development and delivery of equipment maintenance training for production operatives.
 

The successful Engineering Manager:

·         A Degree or HND in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
 
·         Significant experience in maintenance leadership within a highly automated, batch, or FMCG-style production environment.

·         Strong people leadership, mentoring and coaching capabilities.

·         A solid track record of delivering capital investment projects safely, on time, and on budget.

·         A proactive, strategic mindset with a strong focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence.

·         Excellent communication, planning, and organisational skills.
